About Guard The Sacred, LLC

About Me

I'm Jill Medina, and I'm so glad you found my website!

My path to domestic violence advocacy is rooted in both lived experience and a deep commitment to justice, healing, and empowerment.

From a very young age, I experienced sexual abuse that was never acknowledged or addressed by the adults meant to protect me. Growing up, I endured ongoing verbal and emotional abuse, followed by sexually, emotionally, and verbally abusive relationships throughout adolescence and adulthood, including two marriages. I have also experienced spiritual abuse within faith spaces and workplace trauma—experiences that further shaped my understanding of how power, control, and silence can harm individuals and families.

These experiences did not break me—they clarified my purpose.

I am an affiliated domestic violence advocate with Called to Peace Ministries and am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with plans to continue on to a master’s degree to become a trauma-informed therapist. My work is grounded in a trauma-informed, survivor-centered lens, with a strong focus on coercive control, emotional abuse, spiritual abuse, and the complex dynamics that often go unseen or misunderstood.

What I bring to this work is not only education and training, but deep empathy, active listening, and a genuine respect for each survivor’s autonomy and lived reality. I believe survivors are the experts of their own lives. My role is to provide education, advocacy, support, and clarity—without judgment, pressure, or agenda.

My faith is an important part of who I am and why I do this work. I believe that caring for the oppressed, protecting the vulnerable, and walking alongside those who are suffering is central to what we are called to do. Justice, compassion, and dignity are not optional—they are deeply aligned with the heart of our Creator. This belief shapes my commitment to advocacy that is ethical, respectful, and empowering, never coercive or shaming. I also believe in the Keetoowah teaching of adagesdi or love and care for all people, including the oppressed and downtrodden.

Helping the oppressed is not just something I do—it is my calling. I am honored to walk alongside survivors and families as they seek safety, clarity, and empowerment on their own terms.

Important Note on Advocacy vs. Therapy

I provide domestic violence advocacy, education, and support, not mental health therapy or clinical counseling. While my work is trauma-informed and informed by my education in psychology, I do not diagnose, treat, or provide psychotherapy. Advocacy focuses on empowerment, resources, education, and support related to safety and abuse dynamics.

If you are seeking clinical mental health treatment, I am happy to help you explore appropriate therapeutic resources and referrals.
